U.S. Peace Corps volunteer bids farewell to Habitat
Posted January 26, 2010
Sharon Keld volunteered as a Resource Development and Marketing Strategist at Habitat for Humanity Philippines from July 2009 to January 2010. During her stay, Keld was able to advocate for Habitat for Humanity using her skills and expertise. As the supertyphoons of last quarter 2009 hit, Keld also became active in proposal writing and actual relief work. She was also able to engage her fellow Peace Corps volunteers in a Habitat build, as well as, in her own private time, become active in other social causes in the Philippines other than housing. Included in her list of social causes is her Water System Proposal for Mindanao proposal, which led to funding for one of the villages (http://watercharity.org/node/125). Another personal initiative is taking part in the International Coastal Cleanup Day with other fellow Peace Corps members.
