More than a hundred families in Habitat-Asamba Village have switched to CFL!
Posted February 08, 2010
Last January 22, HFHP's Asamba families exchanged their incandescent bulbs with more energy efficient compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) in Asamba covered court, Baesa, Quezon City. More than a hundred families from the village and neighboring communities participated. A total of 1,165 bulbs were collected and exchanged for CFLs.
The activity was spearheaded by the Switch Movement, the Department of Energy and volunteers from Habitat-Asamba community, namely Alice Reyes (homeowners’ association secretary), Ofelia Yesto, Imelda Capoquian, and Jovita Frayco.
The project aims to generate public support, practice, and advocacy for energy efficiency practices, using the Switch to CFL as a tangible action that will demonstrate beneficial results for the country, communities, and households. It also provides a platform to effect behavior and social change in the context of best energy efficiency practices.
