Public Sector Partners
Habitat for Humanity acts in partnership with Local Government Units and National Agencies for projects that provide for the needs of the Filipino families in terms of housing, housing support, and community and family development. These public sector partners either provide land for community building, support for land development, or funding for homes construction.
Current Public Sector Partners of HFH Philippines include:
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has always been a partner of Habitat for Humanity in the rebuilding efforts of families affected by calamities. Both are currently undertaking a huge task of building homes and communities for families in Cagayan de Oro who survived typhoon Sendong. DSWD has allotted funds for the construction of thousands of homes not only in Cagayan de Oro but also in other parts of Mindanao. Projects in Iligan and Maguindanao are being drawn up to also address the housing needs of families in these areas. Prior to Sendong, the DSWD has also partnered with Habitat in various sites in Bicol.
National Housing Authority (NHA)
With the same thrust of building homes for Filipino families in need, Habitat for Humanity and the National Housing Authority work together in building communities, working side-by-side as they often provide land for project sites.
Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund)
Because of its partnership with Habitat for Humanity, the Home Development Mutual Fund is involved in the realization of the dreams of hundreds of public school teachers to own decent homes. Through the Pag-IBIG Fund, public school teachers are able to loan for the construction of houses which they can call their own.
Department of Education (DepEd)
Habitat for Humanity is building homes for public school teachers, through a partnership with the Department of Education, which hopes to provide decent homes to thousands of public school teachers across the country. Knowing how vital these teachers' role are in shaping our nation, the DepEd acknowledges the need for them and their families to live in safe and secure homes and communities.
Apart from house building, Habitat for Humanity also supports the initiatives of DepEd through the construction of school buildings, some of which are built as evacuation centers. Called the Noah's Ark, Habitat is part of a consortium of organizations and companies that rehabilitates and builds school classrooms with common kitchen facilities and latrines.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)
Habitat for Humanity is partnering with the Department of Interior and Local Government in building homes with public servants such as firemen and the police force. Habitat is also looking into working with the DILG in mobilizing the Sangguniang Kabataan for local youth involvement in the advocacy of Habitat of promoting for the development of shelter plans that will benefit local communities.
Local Government Units
Habitat for Humanity work hand-in-hand with local government units, headed by mayors, in the whole process of community building. From family selection to site development to house construction to community development, city and municipal governments play a vital role. Realizing the need of these local governments to address the housing needs of their constituents, Habitat for Humanity support the creation of shelter plans and the LGU's goals in reducing poverty housing in their respective areas.
At present, Habitat for Humanity has partnership with the city and municipal governments of Cagayan de Oro, Malabon, Navotas, Panabo, Pasig, Pinamalayan, and the provincial government of Rizal. It also renews ties with local government units where Habitat has presence and is establishing future communities.
